Gerald N. Shelley has over 33 years of experience in handling civil trials and appeals. He is a Certified Appellate Law Specialist, certified by The State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization.
Mr. Shelley is currently the chair of the appellate section of the Orange County Bar. He is an adjunct professor at Santa Ana College teaching law-related matters such as advanced legal research and writing.
Mr. Shelley is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and all state and federal courts in California.

Representing Defendants and Appellants
Mr. Shelley secured a reversal of a $2 million punitive damage judgment rendered by the Los Angeles Superior Court. [citation] He secured a reversal of a contempt order made by the Orange County Superior Court. [citation] He convinced the Ninth Circuit to reverse a summary judgment in a matter involving ERISA rights in community property. [citation] In another case Mr. Shelley won a $6 million reduction in damages for his client. [citation]
Representing Plaintiffs and Respondents
Mr. Shelley has been trial counsel and respondents appellate counsel in litigation that resulted in more than $6 million being paid to his client after a jury trial and victory on appeal in a breach of contract case involving a start up company. [citation]

Mr. Shelley has represented a number of attorneys in various legal matters where events turned adverse for the attorney or for a client where adverse events were due to attorney error or attorney inexperience. Through direct representation, coaching or consulting with the attorney, each of these cases has ended with a vast improvement of the situation, if not an outright victory.
